معرفی
Professor Mark Emmerson is a faculty member at the School of Biological Sciences at Queen's University Belfast. His research focuses on the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, with particular emphasis on trophic interactions, body size, and ecosystem stability across marine, freshwater, and terrestrial systems.
- Current Research Students:
- Justin Judge (3rd year): Resilience in marine ecosystems
- Robert Stewart (2nd year): Ecosystem-based apple orchard management
- Abby Gilson (3rd year): Kelp in marine food webs
Research Interests: Professor Emmerson explores biodiversity dynamics through experimental and theoretical approaches, investigating how environmental pressures (e.g., drought, agricultural intensification) alter ecological networks and energy fluxes. His work bridges macroecology, climate change biology, and conservation science.
Publications: His recent articles reveal trends in biodiversity-climate interactions, soil food web responses to management practices, and conservation genetics of endangered species like the Natterjack toad. Key themes include ecosystem resilience, functional diversity, and multi-trophic dynamics.
