Mark Dickson is an Adjunct Professor (Part-Time Faculty) at the University of San Francisco. He specializes in intellectual property law, with expertise in patent litigation, prosecution, and licensing across chemical, pharmaceutical, plant, and electronic technologies. His career spans over 35 years, including roles as a partner in international law firms, a solo practitioner, and leadership positions in legal organizations.
Education: PhD in Inorganic Chemistry (Washington State University, 1982), JD (University of Houston, 1988), and BS in Chemistry (University of Southern Colorado, 1977). He clerked for Circuit Judge Pauline Newman at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and held a Congressional Science Fellowship with U.S. Representative Ed Zschau.
Professional Activities: Former Chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Intellectual Property Law Section, President of the San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association, and current Chair of the ABA Standing Committee on Publishing Oversight.
