Dr. Mark DeMull serves as Assistant Professor of Music specializing in Percussion Studies at the Challey School of Music, North Dakota State University. An active orchestral percussionist and timpanist, he performs with major ensembles including the Grand Rapids Symphony, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and Washington National Opera while maintaining chamber music engagements through the MITT3N Percussion trio.
His educational credentials include:
- D.M.A. from The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University (studied with Robert van Sice)
- M.M. from Michigan State University
- B.M. from Alma College
DeMull champions contemporary repertoire development, exemplified by his commissioning project Last Dance featuring seven new intermediate-level marimba works. His research integrates performance practice with pedagogy, emphasizing orchestral percussion techniques, chamber music collaboration, and expanding educational resources for percussionists through newly commissioned literature.
