معرفی
Mark Döring is a Researcher at the Institute for German Language and Literature within Department 3: Linguistics and Information Sciences at the University of Hildesheim. He has been working in this position since October 2017, focusing on text linguistics with a specialization in digital communication and social media discourse. His academic background includes an MA in German Linguistics from the University of Hamburg (2014-2017) and a BA in German Language and Literature and Philosophy from the same institution (2010-2014), with a semester abroad at Charles University in Prague (2015-2016).
Döring's research centers on text linguistics, discourse linguistics, and language in new media, particularly social networks. His dissertation project examined university postings as a text type in higher education marketing through a text-linguistic analysis of German universities' communication on Facebook and Twitter. He has also conducted text-linguistic descriptions of Corona notices during the first lockdown period. His scholarly work reveals a consistent focus on how institutions communicate in digital spaces, with special attention to temporal and spatial references, text type networking, and discourse patterns in social media contexts.
His recent publications and conference presentations demonstrate significant engagement with temporality cues in university social media communications, missing or delayed texts in institutional marketing, and comparative analyses of public discourse topics. Döring is an active member of the Society for Applied Linguistics (GAL) and serves on the Ethics Committee as Deputy Scientific Staff Group representative.
As an educator, Döring teaches courses including Introduction to Linguistics, Text Linguistics, Text Type Linguistics, Writing Didactics, Political Linguistics, and Digital Literacy. His supervision of bachelor's theses covers diverse topics such as emoji usage as informality markers, text coherence in educational materials, cognitive metaphors in advertising and migration discourse, and text-image relations in social media platforms.
