Mark Boland

Mark Boland is Professor of Physics and Engineering Physics at the University of Saskatchewan, previously serving as Machine Director at the Canadian Light Source (2017-2024). He holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne and conducted postdoctoral research at Lund University. His career includes significant contributions to accelerator systems at the Australian Synchrotron.

Research expertise includes:

• Ultra-low emittance electron beam measurement
• Synchrotron radiation instrumentation
• Particle accelerator design for future colliders
• Neural network applications in beam control

Boland has published extensively on particle accelerator physics and synchrotron technology. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the American Physical Society's Division of Physics of Beams and chaired the International Particle Accelerator Conference in 2019.
