Professor Mark Bellgrove is Deputy Head of School (Research) and a Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience at Monash University's School of Psychological Sciences. He co-chairs Monash Neuroscience, a university-wide initiative involving over 600 researchers. His work focuses on the biological basis of attention and cognitive control, combining cognitive neuroscience and molecular genomics. He leads projects funded by NHMRC, MRFF, and ARC grants, including an NHMRC L2 Investigator Grant. Notable achievements include developing Australia's first NHMRC-approved ADHD clinical guideline and founding the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA).
His research interests span ADHD endophenotypes, genetic risk markers, and neurochemical mechanisms of attention. He has published in high-impact journals like Molecular Psychiatry and Nature Neuroscience. Awards include the NARSAD Young Investigator Award, Fellowship of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia (FASSA), and Monash’s Supervisor of the Year (2021).
Collaborations include adjunct roles at Trinity College Dublin and the University of Queensland. His lab integrates advanced neuroimaging, genetics, and behavioral studies to address clinical heterogeneity in psychiatric disorders. Key projects investigate dopamine pathways, brain structural abnormalities, and neurodevelopmental trajectories in ADHD and related conditions.
- Supervised over 20 research projects, including studies on iPSC modeling of ADHD and brain asymmetry.
- Authored 226+ peer-reviewed outputs and 28 funded projects.
- Recipient of 8 major awards recognizing research impact and mentorship.
