Professor Kim Cornish is a Sir John Monash Distinguished Professor and Founding Director of the Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health at Monash University. She holds a Professorial position in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience within the School of Psychology. Her research focuses on tracing early cognitive trajectories in children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, autism, and fragile X syndrome, with a strong emphasis on developing digital interventions to enhance cognitive outcomes.
Educated at the University of London (PhD, 1991) and Lancaster University (BSc Hons, 1988), Cornish has held senior roles at the University of Nottingham and McGill University, where she held a Canada Research Chair. She is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and has received over $17M in grants. Her leadership includes co-leading Monash’s THRIVE initiative, promoting mental health across the university community.
Recent research highlights include digital interventions post-COVID-19, attention training in ADHD, and the neurocognitive profiles of neurodevelopmental conditions. Her work bridges academia and real-world applications, with projects funded by ARC, health departments, and industry partners. Awards include the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Award (2021) for the Monash Health & Wellbeing Strategy.
