Mark Baird

Dr. Mark Baird is Research Director of the Coastal and Oceanic Systems (COS) Research Program at Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). His program integrates remote sensing, bio-optics, genomics, and sensor technologies to model marine ecosystems, supporting environmental management, blue carbon assessment, and Great Barrier Reef conservation. Previously, he held roles as Principal/Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research, Senior Research Fellow at UTS, and ARC Research Fellow at UNSW.

His recent publications (2023-2025) emphasize climate resilience, coral bleaching mechanisms, nutrient pollution, and advanced environmental modelling.
