Mark Ari is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of North Florida, where he teaches fiction, creative nonfiction, and writing-based hybrid arts. An interdisciplinary artist and writer, Ari is also the founder of the literary journals Flock Literary Journal (formerly Fiction Fix) and Talon Review, and curates electronic chapbooks for his label EAT.

Research & Creative Interests
Ari’s creative practice spans fiction, personal essays, poetry, music journalism, and visual art. His novel The Shoemaker’s Tale received international acclaim and was re-issued electronically with support from a National Endowment for the Arts Artworks Grant. He collaborates on multisensory installations—recent projects include Via Brooklyn Bridge (2023, Olfactory Art Keller, NYC) and Colossus (2023, CICA Museum, South Korea). Exhibitions of his paintings have appeared at venues such as the Broome Street Gallery, Southern Vermont Art Center, and Giralda Center in Seville.

Advising & Editorial Leadership
Ari mentors undergraduate writers and editors and has created sustained venues for student publication and multimedia experimentation. As faculty advisor, he guided the evolution of Fiction Fix into Flock Literary Journal and co-founded Talon Review, fostering emerging voices in fiction and nonfiction.
Labs, Teams & Creative Outlets
He leads EAT, an independent recording label and digital press producing electronic chapbooks, and collaborates with artists Ginger Andro and Chuck Glicksman on immersive, multisensory installations that integrate literature, sound, and visual art.
