معرفی
Mark Anthony Fields, MPH, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Science at Yale University School of Medicine. His academic journey includes a PhD in Cellular Biology and Anatomy from the Medical College of Georgia (2007), an MPH from Columbia University (2011), and an Executive Master of Healthcare Management from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health (2010).
Dr. Fields specializes in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and inherited retinal degenerations. His research focuses on:
- Using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) to model AMD pathology
- Investigating the role of epigenetics in AMD development
- Developing disease-in-a-dish models for drug discovery
- Screening compounds for therapeutic potential against retinal diseases
His publication record shows a consistent focus on retinal structure and function, particularly examining the interactions between choroid, Bruch's membrane, and retinal pigment epithelium. His research has evolved from basic stem cell applications to sophisticated disease modeling and high-throughput drug screening approaches.
Dr. Fields has received research funding from several prestigious sources:
- Blavatnik Fund for Innovation
- National Institutes of Health
- Alonzo Family Fund
He serves as an external reviewer for prominent journals including The Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Stem Cell Translational Medicine, and The Journal of Retinal and Vitreous Diseases (Retina). Dr. Fields also completed the Yale Emerging Leaders Program at the Yale School of Management.
