Dr. Mark A. Jumper is an Associate Professor and Director of Chaplaincy & Military Affairs at Regent University. A retired U.S. Navy chaplain with 24 years of service, he combines pastoral ministry with academic leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Humanities from Salve Regina University, M.Div. from Columbia Theological Seminary, and B.A. in History from Oral Roberts University. His research focuses on chaplaincy theory, religious ethics, and the intersection of faith with military, healthcare, and international contexts. He has authored/co-edited books on chaplaincy practices and Reformation theology, and contributed articles to military and religious journals.
His awards include the Distinguished Service Award (Coast Guard Chaplain of the Year 1998) and multiple military commendations. Dr. Jumper has served in diverse roles including pastoring congregations, moderating presbyteries, and advising on chaplaincy policies. He oversees Regent’s chaplaincy program preparing students for service across military, healthcare, and institutional settings.
