She specializes in complex spine surgery and holds leadership roles including Executive Director of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Her clinical expertise spans degenerative cervical myelopathy, spinal surgery outcomes, and public health. She completed her neurosurgery residency at the University of Colorado (2002) and complex spine fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin (2006), with additional training in public health as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar.
Education:
- MD: Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine (1996)
- Residency: Neurosurgery, University of Colorado (1997–2002)
- Fellowship: Complex Spine Surgery, Medical College of Wisconsin (2005–2006)
- MPH: Public Health, University of Washington School of Public Health
Research focuses on surgical outcomes, spinal biomechanics, and healthcare policy. Recent work emphasizes patient-reported outcomes post-surgery, diffusion tensor imaging applications, and perioperative risk assessment. Her publications highlight advancements in cervical myelopathy management and spine surgery innovations.
Scientific Recognition:
- Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS)
- Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar (2011)
Leadership contributions include chairing the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves (2016–2017). Her clinical practice integrates advanced surgical techniques with patient-centered care, addressing spinal disorders such as herniated discs, spondylolisthesis, and degenerative conditions.
