Marjorie Bond is a Teaching Professor of Statistics at Penn State’s Department of Statistics. She holds a PhD in Statistics (Kansas State University, 1996), MA and BS in Mathematics (University of New Mexico, 1992 and 1990), and an AS in Mathematics (Amarillo College, 1987).
Her research focuses on measuring attitudes toward statistics and data science education through the MASDER team’s instruments, including the SOMAS/SOMADS surveys funded by NSF grant DUE-2013392. She co-developed the SATS Project (2006–2014), a nationwide dataset on student attitudes and performance.
Bond previously served as Professor Emerita at Monmouth College (Illinois) after 26 years, where she received multiple advising awards including Outstanding Greek Advisor (2004). She co-leads workshops on addressing student challenges in introductory statistics courses.
Teaching responsibilities include STAT 318 (Elementary Probability) and STAT 414 (Introduction to Probability Theory). Her research integrates educational psychology, survey design, and STEM pedagogy.
