Maritza Branker serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics within Niagara University's College of Arts and Sciences, holding this position since joining the institution in 2006. She previously served as Department Chair (2016-2019) and Actuarial Science Program Director (2016-2020), and currently co-chairs the Enterprise Risk Management Working Group and Teacher Education Academic Content Committee.
Her academic credentials include a B.Sc. Honors in Pure Mathematics (1998) and M.Sc. in Pure Mathematics (1999) from the University of Western Ontario, followed by a Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics from the University of Toronto (2004) under Dr. Thomas Bloom. She further holds a Women in Leadership Certificate from Cornell University (2018).
Dr. Branker's research spans pluripotential theory and approximation theory in pure mathematics, while extending into interdisciplinary domains including the rhetoric of science, history of mathematics, higher education research, mathematics education, and leadership studies. Her scholarly profile reflects a unique integration of advanced mathematical theory with educational and leadership frameworks.
She has supervised multiple honors theses across diverse mathematical topics and recently began advising doctoral students in the Leadership and Public Policy Ph.D. program. Her university governance contributions include past service on the Promotion and Tenure Committee, Committee for Investigation and Advice, Hearing Committee, and University Senate, alongside leadership of the College of Arts and Science Curriculum Committee.
