Marit Tolo Ostebo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Florida. Her work bridges anthropology of policy, international development, critical global health, and gender studies, with a focus on Ethiopia since 2005.
- Education: PhD in Gender and Development (University of Bergen, 2013), MPh in International/Public Health (University of Bergen, 2007), BSc in Nursing (Diakonova University College, 1997).
Her research examines the interplay between policy models and local realities, including projects on gender equality translations, religion and development, and Covid-19 pandemic responses. Recent publications analyze public-private partnerships, religious interpretations of pandemics, and power dynamics in health research.
Teaching includes Anthropology of Religion, Human Rights and Culture, and Feminist Anthropology. She is a certified Team-Based Learning (TBL) consultant and explores digital adaptations of TBL pedagogy.
