Marit Inngjerdingen is a Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, University of Oslo. Her research focuses on natural killer (NK) cells and innate lymphoid cells, particularly their therapeutic applications in cancer and immune disorders. Key interests include extracellular vesicles derived from NK cells for cancer therapy, immunological mechanisms in graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), and the anti-inflammatory properties of medicinal plants.
- Affiliations: Department of Pharmacology, University of Oslo; Research groups in Innate Immunity and Cancer
Her work explores how NK cell-derived extracellular vesicles can be harnessed for targeted cancer treatment, with studies on vesicle production optimization and tumor targeting. She investigates NK cell subsets in acute leukemia and their role in pediatric cases. Additionally, she studies the interplay between the gut microbiota, immune cells, and medicinal plant extracts using intestinal organoid models.
Publications span immunology, oncology, and pharmacology, with a focus on NK cell biology, GvHD pathogenesis, and natural product immunomodulation. Recent studies highlight drug delivery systems using artificial vesicles and structural characterization of bioactive polysaccharides from plants like Daphne mezereum.
Her research collaborations involve multidisciplinary teams studying cytokine regulation, immune cell activation, and translational applications of extracellular vesicles. Ongoing projects aim to develop clinical strategies leveraging NK cell vesicles and probiotics for immune modulation.
