Marit Heier Lajord is a Research Fellow (PhD candidate) in the Department of Private Law at the University of Oslo's Faculty of Law. Her research focuses on transparency and information rights in land and natural resource management, addressing fragmented legal frameworks and public participation in decision-making processes. She holds a Master's degree in Law (2018) and previously worked as a research assistant at the Nordic Institute of Maritime Law and an assessor at the Norwegian Supreme Court.

Research Interests: Natural resource governance, administrative law, municipal law, public law, and environmental law. Her PhD project examines constitutional and legal obligations for transparency in land-use decisions, analyzing cases like hydropower development, cabin construction, and protected areas. She explores how public access to information (under the Public Access Act and Local Government Act) interacts with environmental rights (Constitution §112) to ensure democratic accountability and equitable resource management.
Grants & Funding: Her PhD project is fully funded by the University of Oslo, with a focus on completing by autumn 2026.
Labs/Groups: Participates in the Natural Resource Law research group and contributes to interdisciplinary discussions on sustainable governance at the Faculty of Law.
