Marissa Dean Hayes is an adjunct instructor of Criminal Justice and Ph.D. student at Tarleton State University, with a focus on crimes against women and systemic power dynamics in criminal justice.

Her research explores crimes of violence and power/control dynamics against women, particularly domestic violence, sexual victimization, and Indigenous homicide overrepresentation. She analyzes these within college campuses and across legal reporting frameworks.
Marissa has presented at the American Society of Criminology and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, earning recognition for her oral presentations. Her current projects aim to address gaps in data collection for non-fatal strangulation in partner violence, campus sexual assault staffing, and Indigenous female homicide victimization.
