Marion Gehlker serves as Senior Lecturer and Yale Advanced German Courses Coordinator in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Yale University, with prior service as German Study Abroad Coordinator (2001-2012) and Language Program Director. Her academic work centers on innovative German language pedagogy through content-based and campus-integrated approaches.
Her research explores intersections of language education with social justice, environmental sustainability, historical representation in text/film, and graphic novel pedagogy. She develops specialized advanced courses examining German multiculturalism (Turkish Germans, Afro-Germans, Russian Jews), Weimar Republic history, and ecological culture ('Green Germany').
