Marion Chatelain is a Researcher at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology, Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw. She holds a Master’s in Evolutionary Ecology from the National Museum of Natural History of Paris (2012) and a PhD from the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Sciences of Paris (2015). Her research focuses on the ecological and evolutionary impacts of trace metals in urban environments, particularly on avian physiology, coloration, and microbial communities. She also investigated earthworm dispersal and urban habitat effects. She was awarded a POLONEZ grant (2016–2018) to study oxidative stress in urban birds. Her work bridges toxicology, ecology, and evolutionary biology.
Research interests include trace metal pollution effects on wildlife, urban ecology, avian coloration adaptation, and microbial interactions. She has published extensively on metal exposure impacts on reproduction, immunity, and behavior in birds like feral pigeons and tit species. Her studies also address soil ecosystems through earthworm behavior and dispersal patterns.
Notable awards: POLONEZ grant (National Science Centre, Poland). Her research integrates experimental fieldwork and laboratory analyses to address environmental challenges in urbanized ecosystems.
