Mario Strazzabosco

Mario Strazzabosco is a Professor of Medicine (Digestive Diseases) at Yale School of Medicine and serves as Director and Clinical Program Leader of the Smilow Liver Cancer Program. He also co-directs the Yale Liver Center, coordinating multidisciplinary care for liver cancer patients involving hepatology, oncology, and surgery. His clinical expertise includes advanced hepatology and liver transplantation, with a focus on liver cancer treatment and management of chronic liver diseases like cystic fibrosis-related liver disease and polycystic liver disease.

He explores therapies targeting biliary epithelial dysfunction and liver progenitor cell biology. Recent work focuses on gut microbiome dysbiosis in cystic fibrosis and imaging biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with immunotherapy.

Grants & Collaborations: Collaborates with institutions like the Yale ADPKD Center and researchers such as Dr. Romina Fiorotto and Dr. Ariel Jaffe. Active in translational research, including clinical trials for liver cancer therapies and cost-effectiveness analyses of HCC management.
