Mario Martinez-Jimenez is an Imperial College Research Fellow in the Department of Economics and Public Policy at Imperial College Business School, sponsored by Professor Dame Carol Propper. His research focuses on health economics, labour economics, and public economics, with current projects examining socioeconomic health disparities, environmental impacts on child mental health, early-life shock consequences, and fertility rate declines.
He is affiliated with the Health Econometrics and Data Group (HEDG) and serves on the EvaluAES Committee at the Spanish Health Economics Association. His academic journey includes a PhD in Health Economics from Lancaster University (funded by the NIHR School for Public Health Research), an MRes in Applied Economics from Autonomous University of Barcelona, and an MSc in Health Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Recent publications analyze fiscal policies for healthcare delays and public acceptance of food taxes. His work bridges empirical microeconomics with policy innovation, emphasizing child development and human capital dynamics. Scientific awards include NIHR School for Public Health Research funding during his PhD.
