Mario Gongora

Professor Mario Gongora is a Professor in Applied Intelligent Systems at the School of Computer Science and Informatics, De Montfort University (DMU), serving as Faculty Enterprise Lead within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media. He leads the Research in Societal Enhancement (RiSE) team, is a senior member of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence (IAI), and contributes to the Research and Innovation Institute of Digital Research, Communications and Responsible Innovation.

Research Interests: Computational Intelligence, Evolutionary Computing, and Intelligent Data Analytics for large datasets. Consultancy & Commercial Projects: Applied AI to East Midlands Chamber’s Local Skills Improvement Plan and collaborated with organizations like Northrop Grumman, Rolls Royce, and Lachesis on automation, telemetry, and intelligent data mining. VenueSim commercializes behavior simulation and optimization systems.
