Marina Sorochinski

Dr. Marina Sorochinski is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at St. John’s University’s Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies, within the Division of Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, and Homeland Security. Her expertise lies in applying psychological principles to improve police investigations, particularly in analyzing behavioral patterns in violent crimes and wrongful convictions. She holds a PhD in Psychology (specializing in Psychology & Law) from CUNY Graduate Center and an MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Dr. Sorochinski’s research focuses on investigative psychology, including evidence-based profiling for violent offenses, cyber-sexual abuse dynamics, and the systemic issues contributing to wrongful convictions. She has collaborated with agencies like the FBI and South African Police Service. Her work has been recognized through a prestigious National Institute of Justice fellowship.
