Dr. Marina Nonić is an Associate Professor at the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Forestry, specializing in Forest Genetics, Plant Breeding, and Conservation of Forest Genetic Resources. She holds a PhD in Biotechnical Sciences and has been affiliated with the Faculty since 2010. Her roles include teaching at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, as well as leading research projects and conservation initiatives.
Education:
- Bachelor's: University of Belgrade - Faculty of Forestry (2003–2008)
- Doctorate: University of Belgrade - Faculty of Forestry (2009–2016), defending a thesis on improving beech cultivar production via grafting
Research Interests:
- Genetic diversity and conservation of forest tree species (e.g., beech, oak, ash)
- Plant breeding for ornamental and ecological resilience
- Ecological genetics and climate change adaptation
- Seed science, nursery production, and afforestation strategies
