Dr. Marina Müller serves as Working Group Leader of Fungal Interactions within Program Area 1 "Landscape Processes" at the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) e. V. Her research integrates agricultural landscape systems with microbial ecology to address sustainability challenges in land management.
Her educational background includes a Diploma in Biology and Doctorate in Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.).
Research focuses on fungal population dynamics in agricultural ecosystems, particularly flame-like fungi and mycotoxin production under varying land use systems. Key projects investigate microbial degradation of plant carbohydrates (fructans), enzyme activity as functional diversity indicators in phyllosphere communities, and soil health implications for sustainable agriculture. This work bridges mycology, soil science, and biochemical analysis to develop landscape-scale solutions.
The Fungal Interactions working group operates within ZALF's research infrastructure, contributing to national and international agricultural sustainability initiatives through empirical field studies and laboratory analysis of microbial processes.
