Marin Hasan is an Associate Professor at the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, Department of Wood Technology. He has held this position since 2018, following roles as Assistant Professor (2012-2018) and junior researcher positions since 2002. His primary affiliations include the Institute of Wood Science and Institute for Materials Technology. He teaches courses in Basics of Wood Restoration and Wood Protection Technology. Fluent in Croatian and English, he holds consultations weekly.
His research focuses on wood biodegradation mechanisms, development of wood preservatives, sterilization techniques, and restoration of cultural heritage structures. Notable projects include structural assessments of historic timber bridges and the Echo Pavilion in Zagreb's Maksimir Park. He has contributed to optimizing citric acid modification for enhanced wood durability and explored gamma radiation's effects on wood properties.
Publications span over two decades, with recent work emphasizing rotary welding joint performance, juvenile wood properties, and bio-polymer synthesis from recycled timber.
