Marilyn J. Cipolla, Ph.D., is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Electrical & Biomedical Engineering at the University of Vermont’s College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences and holds a joint appointment as a Professor in the Department of Neurological Sciences at the Larner College of Medicine. She also serves as a core faculty member in Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences and Pharmacology.

Dr. Cipolla’s lab investigates cerebrovascular health under physiological and pathological conditions, with a focus on stroke, preeclampsia, and neurovascular interactions. Key areas include:
- Cerebral blood flow regulation and collaterals in ischemic stroke
- Blood-brain barrier dysfunction in preeclampsia and seizures
- Long-term cardiovascular consequences of pregnancy-related hypertension
Her work integrates engineering approaches with clinical neuroscience to advance treatments for stroke and maternal health complications.
