Anne Stowman

Dr. Anne Stowman is an Associate Professor at the University of Vermont's Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine, where she serves as Director of Dermatopathology at the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) and Network Vice Chair for Anatomic Pathology for the UVM Health Network. In her leadership role, she oversees anatomic pathology laboratories and faculty across Vermont and New York.

Dr. Stowman completed her medical degree at the University of Minnesota and residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Virginia (UVA), followed by a Fellowship in Dermatopathology at UVA. After working in private practice at a dermatopathology lab in Charlottesville, she joined the faculty at UVMMC and the Larner College of Medicine in 2017.

Her research focuses on dermatopathology with particular emphasis on:

• Melanoma diagnostics and histopathology
• Applications of immunohistochemistry in skin pathology
• Educational case studies in dermatopathology
• Pathology laboratory management and cybersecurity

Dr. Stowman's publication record spans from 2016 to 2023, demonstrating consistent scholarly activity across clinical dermatopathology, educational case reports, and operational aspects of pathology practice. Her work bridges clinical diagnostics with healthcare policy considerations, as evidenced by her contributions to discussions about remote diagnostics in pathology.
