Marilena Pantzara

Marilena Pantzara is a Consultant Lecturer at the University of Nicosia. She concurrently serves as a staff member at the Pedagogical Institute of Cyprus and contributes to the Curriculum Development Team for Primary Mathematics. Her professional background includes roles as a primary education teacher and an 8-year tenure as a Mathematics Consultant for Primary Education.

Her research explores the intersection of emotion and mathematics learning, with emphasis on:

• Student motivation and beliefs in mathematics education
• Classroom practices that foster student engagement
• Affective dimensions of mathematical thinking

She holds significant leadership experience in international research collaboration, including coordinating the 'Affect and Mathematical Thinking' group at the Congress of the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education (CERME) from 2008–2018, serving as President from 2010–2014. She has authored publications in international journals and presented at conferences, with notable contributions including a book chapter on affective trends in mathematics education.
