Dr. Marike Bormann serves as a Research Fellow at the Department of Communication and Media Studies I within the Faculty of Social Sciences at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. She completed her doctoral research through the NRW Graduate School "Digital Society," specializing in deviant political communication patterns in digital environments.
Her scholarly focus encompasses:
- Political Communication dynamics in digital spaces
- Norm violations in online discourse
- Digital Society infrastructure
- Political Science applications in social media
- Crisis communication during societal disruptions
- AI applications in political decision-making
Currently leading the "Artificial Intelligence for Political Decision-Making (UPEKI)" project within the Manchot AI Research Group, she previously contributed to the "Say my Name" initiative with the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the "Deliberative Discussions in the Social Web (DEDIS)" research group. Her work on the BMBF-funded "MeKriF – Flight as Crisis" project demonstrates applied research in societal emergency contexts.
