Marieta Chirulescu

Marieta Chirulescu is a Professor at the Münster Art Academy. Born in 1974 in Sibiu, Romania, she lives and works in Berlin. Her artistic practice focuses on non-representational painting, referencing 20th-century abstraction while integrating digital printing techniques, scans, and screenshots to deconstruct and manipulate found images, often leaving only traces or sediment-like remnants. This approach critically examines the conditions of contemporary painting and the status of originality in visual art.
