Marielle Düh is a Research Fellow at the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB), embedded in the "Politics of Digitalization" research group jointly operated with the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society. She supports Jeanette Hofmann's disinformation research and co-teaches a Digital Policy seminar at Freie Universität Berlin, with upcoming involvement in the ORA-funded ClaimSov Project on digital sovereignty from March 2025.
Her educational background includes a BA in Communication Science and China Studies, followed by an MA in Big Data in Culture and Society from King's College London. During her master's, she served as a research assistant investigating mobile app digital infrastructures and third-party SDK tracking mechanisms.
Her research synthesizes critical perspectives on digital power structures, with current focus on EU/China digital sovereignty frameworks, disinformation ecosystems, and mobile data governance. This work bridges technical infrastructure analysis (SDKs, tracking) with policy discourse evaluation in transnational contexts.
Marielle maintains extensive international professional experience across Austria, China, Germany, South Africa, and the UK. Prior to WZB, she curated science/technology content for re:publica and worked in cultural programming at the Goethe Institut Beijing, demonstrating consistent engagement at the technology-society interface.
