Marieke Liem is a Professor of Security and Interventions at Leiden University’s Institute of Security and Global Affairs, Department of Violence and Violence Prevention. She leads the European Homicide Monitor and holds a PhD in Forensic Psychology from Utrecht University. Previously, she was a Marie Curie Fellow at Harvard University.
Her research focuses on interpersonal violence, including domestic homicide, homicide by the mentally ill, and confinement effects on violent offenders. She also studies international comparative lethal violence and extremism’s ideological socialization.
