معرفی
Marie-Pierre Aubry is a Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University’s Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on stratigraphy, chronology, and the evolution of Coccolithophores, with a particular emphasis on biomineralization and plankton evolution. She leads the UNESCO/IUGS IGCP Project 308 on Paleocene/Eocene boundary stratotype and authored the 9-volume Handbook of Cenozoic Calcareous Nannofossils. She teaches undergraduate course 460:205 (Evolution and Geologic Time) and graduate course 460:561 (Studies in Micropaleontology).
Her education includes a Doctorat es Sciences (DSc.) from Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris. Key research interests include Cretaceous and Cenozoic biostratigraphy, the impact of environmental changes on marine ecosystems, and the geological history of the Central American Seaway. She has contributed to defining global chronostratigraphic standards, including the GSSP for the base of the Eocene Series in Egypt.
Her recent work emphasizes the interplay between biomineralization and evolutionary processes in coccolithophores, as well as the role of nutrient dynamics in plankton evolution. She has extensively studied the Dababiya Core in Egypt and the Carapita Formation in Venezuela, advancing understanding of Paleogene and Neogene stratigraphy.
