Marie Frier Hvejsel is a Professor at the Aarhus School of Architecture and serves as President of the International Association of Structures and Architecture (IASA). She leads the Research Laboratory 2: Technology, Building Cultures and Settlement, focusing on sustainable architecture and urban development. Educated with a Master of Science and PhD, her work emphasizes transdisciplinary approaches to ecological design and urban metabolism.
Her research interests include urban sustainability, material flow analysis, and the integration of ecological principles into architectural practice. Key projects include 'Ecologies of Stone' and 'Lasting Architecture in Practice,' where she supervises industrial PhD students. She has received prestigious awards like the Ejnar Pachness Foundation Travelling Scholarship (2007) and the International Award for Excellence (2010).
