Marie E. Berry is Associate Professor and Director of the Sié Chéou-Kang Center for International Security and Diplomacy at the University of Denver's Josef Korbel School. A feminist sociologist, her research examines gender, violence, and social movements in post-conflict settings.
Founding convener of the Inclusive Global Leadership Initiative (IGLI), which amplifies women activists advancing peace and democracy globally. Current research through the Women's Rights After War Project critically evaluates empowerment interventions in post-conflict societies.
Honored with:
- National Science Foundation CAREER Award (2021)
- Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) - highest US honor for early-career researchers (2025)
Authored award-winning book War, Women, and Power analyzing women's political mobilization in Rwanda and Bosnia.
