Marie-Claude BÉLANGER is a Full Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Montreal. She specializes in Internal Medicine and Cardiology of companion animals, focusing on cardiovascular diseases such as aortic stenosis, cardio-renal syndrome, and respiratory disorders. Her work also involves echocardiography and nephro-urologic conditions like hypertension. She is affiliated with the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vétérinaire (CHUV).
Education: M.Sc. in Veterinary Cardiology (2001), Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (1999), Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (1995) – all from the University of Montreal.
Research Interests: Chronic valvular disease therapy, biomarkers for early renal failure, and gastrointestinal assessments in cats with pica. Her projects include studies on NGAL biomarkers for urinary infections and Doppler imaging for cardiotoxicity detection.
Awards: Recognized as 'Conference Speaker of the Year' (2013–2014) and 'Favorite Speaker' at AMVQ's 2014 Congress.
Teaching & Grants: Supervised multiple master's theses on canine and feline disorders. Lead researcher in projects funded by AMVQ and Royal Canin, focusing on pica behaviors and biomarker applications.
