Marie-Claude Audet is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nutrition Sciences at the University of Ottawa. She holds adjunct roles as a scientist at the Institute of Mental Health Research (Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre) and as a professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Carleton University. Her research focuses on the gut microbiota-immune-brain axis, stress, and mental health. Prior to joining the University of Ottawa in 2017, she established a research program at the Institute of Mental Health Research exploring these themes. During her postdoctoral fellowship at Carleton University, she investigated brain inflammatory factors in stress-related disorders like depression and anxiety.
Research Interests: Dr. Audet’s work bridges nutrition, neuroscience, and mental health. Key areas include understanding how gut microbiota interacts with the immune and nervous systems under stress, and developing interventions to mitigate stress-induced mental health issues. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates molecular biology, behavioral neuroscience, and clinical research.
Labs/Teams: She leads a research program at the Institute of Mental Health Research focused on the gut-brain axis and mental health. Collaborations span translational research between academic and clinical settings.
