Marianne Rugkåsa is a Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Social Work, Child Welfare and Social Policy at Oslo Metropolitan University. Her work bridges social work and social anthropology, focusing on migrant integration, child welfare with ethnic minorities, and antiracist practice. She leads the academic unit Living Conditions, Health, Work, and Social Inequalities.
- Trained as a social worker
- PhD in social anthropology
- Over 15 years researching minority families in the Norwegian welfare state
Research Focus: Rugkåsa employs ethnographic methods to examine:
- Minority perspectives in child protection
- Language barriers in migrant social work
- Structural racism in public services
- Trust dynamics in vulnerable communities
