Marianne Eek

Marianne Eek is an Associate Professor in Norwegian at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences. She holds appointments in the Faculty of Teacher Education and Pedagogy and the Department of Nordic Languages and Literature. In May 2021, she defended her dissertation on multilingual assistants in Norwegian language teaching for adult newcomers with limited formal schooling.

Her research focuses on second language learning and sociolinguistics, particularly multilingualism and language ideology, social justice in education, participant perspectives in second language learning, identity and investment in language acquisition, and the use of first language in second language learning contexts.

Her publications demonstrate a strong focus on language education for marginalized populations, particularly adult immigrants. Recent work explores innovative teaching methodologies for numeracy and literacy development in multilingual contexts.
