Marianne Black is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Victoria (UVic), specializing in assistive technology for musculoskeletal disorders. She joined UVic in September 2022 after completing her Ph.D. at Stanford University and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Stanford’s School of Medicine.

Her work includes developing eWearable solutions for remote musculoskeletal management and exploring augmented reality applications in medical contexts. She co-founded Arbutus Medical, an orthopaedic medical device company, during her graduate studies.
