Dr. Marianne Barton is a Clinical Professor and Director of the Psychological Services Clinic in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Connecticut. She leads clinical training initiatives and oversees service delivery in the clinic.
Her research focuses on three interconnected domains:
- Early parent-child relationships and their impact on development
- Innovative methods for early detection of autism spectrum disorders
- Long-term developmental trajectories in Autism, particularly factors influencing outcomes
Her publications consistently explore autism spectrum disorders through clinical and developmental lenses, with recurring themes of early detection methodology, diagnostic stability, intervention efficacy, and predictors of optimal outcomes. Research spans clinical psychology, pediatric screening, and evidence-based educational interventions.
Dr. Barton teaches both undergraduate courses (Personality Theory, Emotional and Behavioral Disorders of Childhood and Adolescence) and graduate seminars (Psychodynamics, History and Systems in Psychology, Clinical Supervision).
