Marianna Penga

Marianna Penga is an Associate Lecturer in Textile Design at UCLAN Cyprus (2024–present). Previously, she served as Senior Textile Lecturer at Alexander College (2013–2024). She holds an MA Textile Futures (Central Saint Martins, 2004), BA Fashion and Textiles (Ravensbourne College, 2002), and a PGCE (University of Buckingham, 2013).

Her research focuses on 3D textiles using computational tools, smart materials with shape-shifting properties, and sustainable design involving bio-based and recycled materials. She teaches modules in fashion design, including Fashion Communication & Presentation Methods, Fashion Fundamentals, and CAM in Fashion. Recent work includes consultancy roles with Y-02 Design Studio (2020–present), Cyprus Handicraft Centre (2020–2023), and TOGAS GROUP (2023).

She leads the Haptic Glove project with IREROBOT Ltd (€1,130 grant, 2024–present), exploring textile integration into robotics. Her publications include studies on sustainable practices and 3D weaving technologies, emphasizing interdisciplinary innovation in material science.
