Mariana Sousa e Silva Cabral de Carvalho

Mariana Sousa e Silva Cabral de Carvalho is an Invited Adjunct Professor at the Coimbra Education School, Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (Portugal). She holds a PhD in Tourism from the University of Aveiro, a Master’s in Tourism Management and Development from the same institution, and a degree in Tourism from the University of Coimbra. Her research focuses on experience co-creation, food & wine tourism, cultural attractions, rural tourism, and creative tourism.

She is affiliated with CITUR (Center for Research, Development and Innovation in Tourism) as an Integrated Researcher and with GOVCOPP (Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies) Research Unit at the University of Aveiro as an external researcher. Her work explores themes such as visitor engagement in wine destinations, family-friendly winescape design, and holistic food tourism experiences.

Her recent publications analyze co-creation frameworks in tourism contexts, social media’s role in wine terroir experiences, and the interplay between perceived authenticity and loyalty in peer-to-peer accommodations. Key research contributions include studies on the Dão and Bairrada wine regions in Portugal, emphasizing cultural landscapes and visitor co-creation dynamics.
