Dr. Mariana Dotcheva is a Senior Lecturer in Engineering Design at the University of Portsmouth, affiliated with the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and the Portsmouth Centre for Advanced Materials and Manufacturing. She obtained her PhD from the University of Wales in 2006.
- Education: PhD (University of Wales, 2006)
Her research focuses on CAD/CAM, process modelling, and additive manufacturing, particularly the design and optimization of metal components for functional applications. She explores direct manufacturing techniques to enhance design freedom and improve machining efficiency through variable cutting conditions.
Recent publications highlight her work in metal additive manufacturing, centrifugal compressor modelling, and CNC machining optimization. Collaborations include researchers like J. Favrot, K. Dotchev, and J. Radulovic.
She supervises PhD students and contributes to the Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering Research Groups. Her work intersects with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and selective laser melting (SLM) for rapid manufacturing.
