Prof. Marian Vesely (1944–2024) was a distinguished academic and international educator affiliated with the Slovak University of Technology (STU) in Bratislava and Technische Universität Ilmenau (TU Ilmenau). As Chair of Microelectronics (1990 onward) and Vice-Rector for International Relations (1994–2000), he pioneered cross-border academic collaborations.

His research emphasized microelectronics innovation while driving European education reforms through leadership in Bologna Process initiatives. He secured DAAD projects linking materials science programs and organized influential IEEE symposia on academic restructuring.
He facilitated over 5 active partnerships between STU and TU Ilmenau through Erasmus+, Leonardo, and Lubom programs, significantly expanding student and faculty exchanges.
