Prof. Christian Knedlik (1941–2024) was a renowned materials scientist and full professor at TU Ilmenau. He led the Institute of Materials Engineering and played a pivotal role in shaping materials science education and research at the university. His work focused on materials for electrical engineering, microsystems technology, and nanotechnologies. He held leadership roles, including head of the Department of Materials in Electrical Engineering and Vice Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
