Prof. Marian Dacian is a faculty member at the University of Petroșani’s Faculty of Mining, Department of Mining Engineering, Surveying and Construction. He specializes in geomechanics, subsidence monitoring, mine stability, and salt mine exploitation. His work integrates advanced numerical modeling techniques like the finite element method to analyze underground mining structures and surface deformation patterns.
His research focuses on optimizing mine operations, predicting land subsidence effects, and enhancing safety through structural reinforcement. Key projects include stability analysis of salt mines (e.g., Slănic Prahova, Ocnele Mari), coal mine subsidence in the Jiu Valley, and geophysical surveys for pillar integrity.
He has extensively published on topics such as surface deformation prognosis, finite element modeling of mine structures, and topographic surveying techniques for mining areas. His contributions bridge engineering and environmental concerns, addressing sustainable resource extraction and land management in mining-affected regions.
