Maria do Carmo Botelho is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Department of Social Research Methods at ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, where she also contributes as an Integrated Researcher at CIES-Iscte. She holds a PhD in Quantitative Methods and specializes in statistics and data analysis. Her academic leadership extends to coordinating the Specialization Course in Visual Information Communication and supervising numerous PhD and Master’s students.

The articles demonstrate interdisciplinary engagement across sociology, economics, education, and data science, with an emphasis on policy-relevant analysis and visual storytelling.

Advising and Grants: She has guided 7 doctoral students (4 ongoing) and 13 master’s students (11 completed), reflecting her commitment to academic mentorship. She leads and participates in major research projects such as InCities, SYNCLUSIVE, WED PT, PIONEER, DSAEI, and GRADUA, funded by the EU and national agencies, focusing on inclusive cities, labor market inclusion, data science, and educational innovation.
